OEC Fiber Celebrates Four Years of Making Connections

It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since OEC Fiber first broke ground on what has become one of the fastest-growing rural broadband project in the country. With over 25,000 subscribers online and climbing, OEC Fiber is living up to its mission to improve the quality of life for everyone in our service territory.

“We have the best and most passionate team in the business,” said OEC Fiber President, David Goodspeed. “They set the bar and continue to raise it. From the techs in the field who are there for our subscribers seven days a week, to the team members supporting subscribers 24/7/365, the entire team is dedicated to ensuring that we deliver an extremely affordable and reliable internet, phone, and TV service.”

One accolade that we hold near and dear is being voted Best Customer Service by the Norman Transcript. Each year, they ask their readers to vote for their Reader’s Choice Awards in categories ranging from food to care services. OEC Fiber was voted Best Customer Service for 2022, echoing our value to put our subscribers first in any situation.

With an eye toward the future, OEC Fiber has taken another step to ensure our subscribers get the most out of their service with the new OEC Fiber app. This app gives subscribers greater control of their network and helps ensure their online experience is second to none.

The 2017 feasibility study that started the OEC Fiber journey showed that it would take five to seven years to complete the construction of the initial build-out. Nobody could have predicted how quickly this project would grow. After only four years, we have laid over 3,500 miles of main transmission line and countless miles of drops and other extensions to bring fiber into the homes of our subscribers.

We have accomplished a lot in the last four years. When we first started construction, we said we would be laying enough line to reach from our office in Norman, Oklahoma to Athens, Greece. While we may not be standing on the steps of the Parthenon just yet, we have our passport at the ready and look forward to the next phase of our journey.
